Vision

To transform streets and neighbourhoods through child-led stewardship, supported by a wider community care model - bridging joy, health, and climate adaptation in ways that centre community, spark curiosity, and grow up from the grassroots.

Objectives

1. Put children at the heart of neighbourhood stewardship

Support children to help plant and care for nature on their streets, while making the public realm more friendly, welcoming and accessible.

2. Grow living streets through local imagination

Seek opportunities to co-create greener, healthier streets - from pocket parks, rain gardens, tree pits, planters, and micro-habitats - tailored to local climate adaptation needs and powered by collective care.

3. Create trails of wonder through everyday spaces

Develop child-friendly ‘treasure trails’ that weave through neighbourhoods - connecting green features, playful prompts, and storytelling touchpoints to spark joy, learning, and a sense of local adventure.

4. Offer a model that spreads and adapts

Develop a flexible, value-led framework that communities can adopt and evolve, supported by shared tools, optional guidance and resourcing pathways that uphold local ownership while sustaining the integrity of the vision.

5. Build bridges between grassroots action and policy change

Work with councils, schools, and civic organisations to embed street nature into broader strategies for climate action, public health, and inclusive design.

6. Amplify the work of others

Celebrate child-led and child-supported street nature initiatives across the UK and the world – giving visibility to projects rooted in local creativity and care. Share lessons, tools and insights to inspire and inform others, while helping to unlock common blocks and barriers so that more children and communities can bring their visions to life.

7. Plant joy, grow futures

Honour the legacy of past changemakers and the memory of Joyce Salter by cultivating joy as a public good - one that renews streets, restores connection, and grows hope for future generations.
